BenglesBullets 40mm Cases

Benglesbullets cases are reusable and modular. A 40MM case is made up of a “base” and “tube”. The base holds the 38S&W blank or other launch charge and has a male thread that accepts one of the various female threaded “tubes” to match the projectile being used.

These cases will last many firings and can be used indefinably as far as current testing shows. These can be screwed apart and cleaned as needed and are built to last. The cases are also easy to use and in the case of 40mm chalk rounds, you simply need to apply a small dab of super glue or fast setting RTV on the pusher and hand seat it into a m212 tube. The 38 S&W charge is simply pressed into the base until flush. You have the option to leave the two parts separated and only thread them together at the range. The modular design allows you use the same base for many applications. For example, you can use the same base with the m212 tube for chalk rounds and then unscrew and switch to a 4.5″ tube to fire less lethal rounds.

Tubes:

There are currently four different tubes available. The most common tube is the m212 style which is primarily designed for chalk rounds and m212 style printed projectiles. The “Long tube” is a 4.5″ tube with a 1.375″ inside diameter. This is used for projectiles that do not engage the rifling. Less lethal rounds and a lot of 37mm projectiles are compatible with this tube. It’s also popular for smoke rounds that are loaded into cardboard tubes. The Mad Rabbit tube is for the mad rabbit printed parachute projectile that is for flares and illumination projectiles. The Bonetti tube is specifically used for the Bonetti projectiles which has a longer wider base than the chalk rounds. These tubes are also used for some printed rounds that have a longer section below the driving bands than the chalk round. Custom tubes can be ordered for other applications.

Bases:

There are several “bases” to choose from. The most common is the base with a 1/4″ discharge which are used for chalk rounds as well as printed projectiles. The base with a 1/8″ discharge are used with certain commercial 38 blanks without a burst disc. Lastly the side venting hi/lo base is a high performance base used with star crimped 38S&W blanks and required burst material. This design not only allows a higher performance with less shock applied to the projectile, which protects printed rounds, but it also avoids the burst disk material from damaging the projectiles and fuse systems.
